E-I-E-I-O

Adam came home today with 36 baby chicks for Brody. He loves to farm and has always liked dealing with chickens. I, on the other hand, grew up "in town" where chicken farming was something we didn't do. I have to admit there is nothing as sweet as a baby chick, until it makes a mess, that is.
I don't think that Brody gave us quite the reaction we were expecting. He loves animals too and has never been scared of any one of them, not even the cows. We just knew he would love the chickens. Well he did for a few minutes and then he was more interested in squeezing them and throwing them than looking at them or being at all gentle. Adam suggested that we sacrifice one of them for Brody to "play with" and keep the rest safe. I didn't like that idea. I had to snap some pics. Some of them are priceless. I hope you enjoy!!

Break time has finally arrived!!

Well needless to say I am so excited about being on break from school. Thursday was a really hard day for me. Sometimes things happen so fast we have no or little control and as a teacher, I have a really hard time accepting the fact that some kids get caught in a bad situation before they realize what has happened. Anyway, Break could not have had better timing this year for me.
On Friday Brody, Gramma and I met Brooke and Lexi Barton at Chuck E. Cheese's. I am sure this was the first of many trips here. I remember going to Showbiz when I was a kid and I loved it. It seems as though Brody is following in Mommy's footsteps. A lot of the activities were a little too big for him but you would have a hard time convincing him of that. Brody and Lexi were so cute together. We said that it was their first date.

Spring is in the Air

Well you have got to love this East Tennessee weather lately. I mean we have had temperatures ranging from a little below freezing to about 70 degrees in the last week. I really love the warmer weather and have been looking forward to it's arrival for a while now. My allergies on the other hand have been going a little crazy. Oh well I guess it's the price I have to pay for this beautiful weather.
Spring also means baseball season has started. Brody and I went to watch Uncle Curt play baseball tonight. Well we really didn't get to watch much of the game. There were too many things for him to get into. He loves the weather too, but I think he just loves being outside period. He is all BOY as they say. It's been a while since . Curt did pretty good. He had a really good hit and got hit really good once too. I hate when that happens but he took it like a man.( He turned 18 a couple of weeks ago, I can't believe it).
Spring Break starts next week too. I can't wait!! I think the kids are ready for a break too.It seems. I have been trying to post some new pictures taken at the game but for some reason they are taking too long. I will try againg later

Using a lot of Sick days

Well the bugs have definitely hit our family over the past few weeks. It started with me on Feb. 21. Thank the Lord Dr. McGriff had called school off on Monday the 22nd. I went to the Dr and he said I had a sinus infection and probably a touch of the flu. I felt awful. He gave me an antibiotic and I started feeling better in a few days. I had to take Tuesday off because I still didn't feel like working. I went back to work on Wednesday and worked the rest of the week. The next week on Wednesday I woke up with a horrible migraine. So I stayed home again, I had already had a doctor's appointment scheduled for Thursday so I stayed home that day too.Thank goodness I was already off b/c I noticed Brody's eye was a little red and runny. I took him to the doctor and he had conjunctivitis (pink eye). They gave me some drops to use so I went to work Friday and once again school was called off on Monday for illness. I had to end up taking Brody back to the Dr Monday because his eye was no better and in fact it had spread to the other eye. I also noticed he had a runny nose. Well the doctor confirmed what I had expected. He had an ear infection, or should I say a double ear infection. He didn't act like it bothered him too much though and I am so glad that I went ahead and took him back.
Dr. Blevins told me something I didn't know, he said that the same bacteria that caused pink eye also caused ear infections. I had no idea. So I stayed home yesterday to keep him away from Anna and Joseph.
Man I am glad that I didn't have to use all my sick days when I took maternity leave! Well I think we are on the down hill slope hopefully the antibiotic will knock the infection out in a day or two. Keep Brody in your prayers!!
